We recently had the opportunity to exhibit at the inaugural Comms Business Channel Live event at the NEC in Birmingham—an event launched in response to the need for a major event to serve the entire ICT Channel.
As the Channel’s Choice for IoT, we’ve already helped many of our Partners take advantage of this exciting market opportunity, and we attended Channel Live with the aim of supporting others in accelerating their own business growth by selling IoT solutions to both new and existing customers. Our stand was therefore all about showcasing our range of end-to-end solutions that Partners can take to market immediately, as well as some of our larger projects that could net the next multi-million-pound deal.

Pulling the perfect pint with partners
With the whole Pangea team in attendance, we were able to showcase our ecosystem of global connectivity, connected devices, and bespoke end-to-end IoT solutions, all underpinned by actionable analytics and access to our powerful Pangea portal. And nothing exemplified this more than our fully functioning IoT beer tap installed on the worktop of our stand.
Not only was the smart beer flowing with free samples being handed out, but the team were able to show visitors first hand how IoT can help achieve a perfect pint every time. Meanwhile, our purpose-built dashboard displayed a range of graphs of captured data from the pump, including but not limited to:
- Temperature
- Volume
- Pour time
- Pints poured
- Sales breakdown
Combining these data sets in new ways can open up new patterns and insights, all of which can help drive efficiencies and sales—from monitoring stock levels and selling beer with statistics, to ensuring your staff are hitting the optimum pour times for each brand and aren’t sneaking pints to their friends across the bar!
You can read more about how connected beer works, and the added value it can add to the beverage industry here.

The IoT opportunity: From “what?” to “how?”
Having worked in IoT for a number of years it was an absolute pleasure to barely hear one of the most frequently asked questions of a couple of years ago:
“IoT? What is that all about?”
Instead the questions were much more along the lines of:
“How can you help me make it real in my business strategy?”
“What types of solutions should I be taking into a particular vertical sector?”
“How can I make money from IoT?”
These questions were also top of the bill when it came to a panel talk our MD attended that looked to address where partners should be looking to capitalise on the technology.

It’s therefore clear that the Channel is primed for the IoT opportunity—even more than we suspected before attending Channel Live. The excitement and eagerness of those who attended our stand to take innovative IoT solutions to market was almost palatable, and the depth of understanding about IoT was far greater than similar events we’ve attended in the past.

And for those who are ready, the timing has never been better. Our Partners are already trusted with the provision and support of telecoms, connectivity, and ICT solutions to many UK businesses and as customers’ requirements for IoT increase, it’s these providers in the Channel—who they already trust with the lifeblood of their business and the keys to their IT room—that they will turn to first.
We had an absolutely awesome time engaging with everyone at Channel Live 2017, and cannot wait to do it all again in 2018.
