Join our MD, Dan Cunliffe, to find out what we’ve been up to in July. This month we’re covering live data tracking in the Tour De France, IoT innovation in Israel, and new family members at Pangea.
IoT meets the Tour de France
This year’s Tour de France saw some fresh, fascinating tech used by Team Dimension Data, with some incredible implications for IoT in sport.
Connected devices on the backs of the bikes that tracked factors such as location, windspeed, and elevation, all in real-time. Using this information, the support team were able to advise their riders on a multitude of points: energy conservation for inclines, optimal sprint timings, tailwind presence, and more; all mid-race! Having a live data feed is a complete game-changer, and allows for a far more dynamic and adaptive, rather than reflective, strategy.
Tel Aviv: Centre of IoT Innovation
The IoT scene in Tel Aviv is thriving right now, and the city is brimming with innovative ventures. Dan and our Operations Director, Chris Romeika spent a week in Tel Aviv, Israel, where they worked with a partner on a USSD solution to track containers in transit across the world. They also took the time to look at some upcoming IoT projects, including smart cats eyes that talk to connected cars and patented tech security tech that will make contactless smartphone payments even safer.
