And as the providers of the nation’s connectivity, people look to the Channel for guidance and direction when it comes to all things tech and telecoms. Your customers will trust you to answer their burning 5G questions—what it is, how it works, what’s in it for them. And it’s important that you’re ready for those conversations; because if you aren’t, your competitors will answer for you.
‘Evolve or die’ has become a bit of a buzzword, a catch-all term for the fear of being irrelevant and the consequences of getting comfortable. But it’s popular for a reason: just look at the cautionary tales of companies like Kodak, Blackberry, and Blockbuster. The same applies here: your customers need to be at the forefront of innovation in their industries or they risk falling behind.
As for why they’ll want 5G? One look at the benefits of the ‘5G triangle’ makes that clear: superfast speeds, sky-high device density, and virtually real time latency (at speeds faster than the human brain can process!) each open up awesome possibilities in tech that’ll change the way many industries do business.
It’s easy to acquire, too. Similar to the move from 3G to 4G, 5G is a layer on top of already existing mobile networks. No costly tech acquisitions, no lengthy installations of infrastructure, no swapping out your SIM estates; all you’ll need is a 5G-ready device.
And you won’t need to wait for fixed-line deployments—just grab a 5G router. Even 4G outperforms ADSL, while matching or beating fixed-line connections; with a 5G router, it won’t even be close!
A SIM-equipped 5G router would allow them to skip the delay and connect as soon as they need to, while giving them the bandwidth and data rates they’ll need to transfer huge CAD renders, run video conferences, and more. And opting for a static IP means they can use hosted voice software, which is a necessity in the construction industry.
5G’s ultrafast mobile broadband speeds will emulate what your customers are used to with fixed-lines. You can give them the lightning-quick data rates and monster bandwidth of FTTP, but with the same day deployment, transportability, and resilience of mobile connectivity; with none of fixed-line’s downsides.
A company could have a plug-and-play 5G router on the same day it sets up shop and easily cover its EPOS, security, and social distancing solutions without worrying about delays or connectivity drops.
From a logistical standpoint, track-and-trace solutions are in their supply chains and warehouses. And autonomous factories are no longer the stuff of science fiction; in fact, robotics and AI are fast becoming staples within supply chain operations. All of which lean heavily on the low-latency that comes with 5G connectivity—especially when it comes to precision machinery.
That’s where 5G comes in—in particular, its ultra reliability and incredibly low latencies. For live video solutions, remote medical professionals can react in real time, as if they were on-site. Mobile solutions in vehicles can stay connected no matter where they are, regardless of networks, all while maintaining the massive data rates and speeds they require. And for hospitals using fixed-lines, 5G backup will ensure they stay online and keep communications open through outages.
Our own journey into the 5G world began with our healthcare-based 5G Project, so it’s a sector close to our heart.
