Here’s the rundown of how we made finalist for each.
When the pandemic hit, we worked fast to support our partners and key workers by connecting a pop-up COVID-19 hospital, powering 65 COVID-19 testing stations across the country, and gearing up many of our partners with 4G home Mi-Fis.
But our biggest project was connecting the UK’s children to their education. When schools closed in March, the home became the new classroom as students shifted to online learning; but many didn’t have internet access, with some schools reporting up to 24% of their students were without connectivity.
We sent 55,000 home Mi-Fis equipped with our unsteered Multi-network SIMs to digitally-excluded UK students, enabling them to attend online classes, conduct research, and liaise with both teachers and friends. And we added our network-level mobile content filtering to the solution, so the kids were kept safe from malware, adult content, and harmful messages.
We also updated our UK mobile coverage checker to include 5G networks, and moved it to our website so the whole Channel can access it to plan their solution deployments.
